Problem No. 1: The dishwasher doesn’t clean the dishes properly

Reasons:

  • Lack of space between the dishes

  • The amount of detergent used is not according to the hardness of water
  • Wrong selection of the wash cycle
  • Clogged filters

Solutions:

  1. There must be enough space between the dishes so that the water spray can reach evenly to each item.
  2. Check the nozzles of the spray arm. If the food debris has clogged the nozzles, remove it so that the nozzles can work freely.
  3. Clear away any blockage that is limiting the movement of the spray arm.
  4. If your incoming water is too hard and you are not using the required amount of detergent, you will face this problem. Increase the detergent amount if the incoming water is hard for excellent cleaning performance.
  5. First, inspect how dirty your dishes are and then select the wash cycle accordingly.
  6. Check and clean the filters.

Problem No. 2:The dishwasher takes more time than usual to finish cleaning

Reasons:

  • No rinse aid in the dispenser
  • The dishes are dirtier
  • The incoming water is cold

Solutions:

  1. Add rinse aid to reduce the amount of time the machine takes to complete the cycle.
  2. If the dishes are too dirty, the machine will take more time to offer a good wash. So, wait for it.
  3. Attach the dishwasher to the hot water line.

Problem No. 3: The dishwasher stinks

Reasons:

  • The dishwasher stinks when you leave the dishes for too long inside the machine
  • A clogged drain hose causes bacteria to build up that creates a disgusting odor.
  • The water from the last cycle has not drained completely
  • The bottom of the dishwasher is filled with food debris

Solutions:

  1. Always load the dishwasher when you need to start the wash cycle immediately. If not, run the rinse/hold cycle to avoid the unpleasant odor.
  2. Remove the drain hose and check if food particles or food debris are stuck in the hose. If yes, clean the hose and rinse it with running water.
  3. Check the bottom of the dishwasher to find any remaining water from the last cycle. If there is some water, find the blockage and remove it for proper drainage.
  4. Check the filters to remove any food debris and then rinse them with water.

Problem No. 4: The dishwasher makes noise during the wash cycle

Reason:

  • Improper loading of the dishes in the dishwasher

Solution:

When the dishes come in contact with each other or the spray arm, you hear the banging sound coming out of the dishwasher. This happens when you load the dishes improperly. To avoid this, never overload your dishwasher so that the dishes can’t get in contact with each other or the spray arm. Use the same solution to fix the error in Bosch DLX Series Dishwasher as well.

Problem No. 5: Dishwasher leaves marks on the glassware

Reason:

  • Incorrect use of the rinse aid causes the machine to leave marks on the glassware

Solution:

The only solution for this problem is to add the rinse aid according to the water hardness.

Reasons:

  • Defective vent fan motor
  • When you load the dishes incorrectly, you face drying issues
  • No rinse aid in the dispenser
  • You have selected the wrong cycle that has no drying option

Solutions:

  1. Check the motor of the vent fan that may be defective and that’s causing this problem.
  2. Hot air needs space to easily circulate and reach every dish item. When you load the dishes too close to each other, it blocks the hot air. Therefore, never try to overload your dishwasher with different utensils.
  3. If there is no rinse aid in the dispenser, add some for effective drying.
  4. You have selected the rinse/hold cycle that has no drying feature.

Problem No. 7:The dishwasher fails to start

Reasons:

  • No water supply
  • You have mistakenly activated the delay start function
  • The previous cycle has not completed yet
  • The machine is off
  • You have closed the door without selecting the wash cycle

Solutions:

  1. Turn on the water supply so that the machine can start to function.
  2. Resetting the delay start function is the only solution.
  3. Cancel the previous wash cycle and select the new one.
  4. Turn on the main power switch.
  5. Always select the wash cycle first and then close the door.

Problem No. 8: Water fails to enter inside the dishwasher

Reasons:

  • The previous wash cycle is in progress
  • The delay start option is on
  • Obstruction in the water supply line

Solutions:

  1. Cancel the previous wash cycle
  2. Turn off the delay start option to allow the water to enter the dishwasher tank.
  3. Remove the blockage from the water supply line to fill the tank.

Problem No. 9:Water leakage problem

Reasons:

  • Suds are responsible for water leakage
  • A damaged door seal
  • Obstruction in the condensation vent
  • The machine is not installed correctly

Solutions:

  1. Suds are formed because of using a detergent not made for automatic dishwashers. Also, when you use too much detergent, suds are formed that causes water to leak. Therefore, always check the amount and type of detergent before adding it to the dishwasher.
  2. Replace the door seal if it is damaged.
  3. Check the condensation vent and remove any blockage to avoid water leakage problem.
  4. Incorrect installation of the dishwasher also causes water to leak. Call a qualified person to install your machine properly.

Problem No. 10: Dishwasher not Draining

Reasons:

  • The filter is not clean, or it is blocked
  • The air gap is clogged
  • The drain line is clogged
  • Drain pump problems

Solutions:

  • Most of the time, a Bosch dishwasher not draining problem is fixed by checking the filter. You need to clean the filter in your dishwasher periodically to ensure that the food particles, oil residue, grime, dust, and debris don’t clog the filter. You will be surprised to know that broken glass parts often inhabit the filter and stop the water from clearing up. Remove the filter and clean it with tap water. Use an old toothbrush to remove the stuck particles.
  • While you have removed the filter, add some vinegar and baking soda to clean the drain line. Blockages in the drain line can stop your dishwasher from draining properly.
  • The air gap on your dishwasher can be the culprit behind the dishwasher not draining properly. Please note that not all models have an air gap. An air gap is a small metal cap sitting on top of your sink and prevents the dirty water from going back to your sink. Remove the air gap cap and use a torch to check if it has some blockages. Pouring some drain opener in it can help.
  • If everything above is fine and your Bosch dishwasher is still not draining smoothly, the drain pump inside the dishwasher can be the problem. A faulty drain pump will not push water out of your dishwasher.

Problem No. 11: Dishwasher is Beeping

Reasons:

  • The cycle is done
  • The door is opened when the cycle is running
  • No detergent
  • Broken flow meter
  • Broken reed sensor
  • Power Outage
  • Dishwasher not draining
  • Dishwasher improperly loaded
  • The cycle selector is stuck

Solutions:

  • Your Bosch dishwasher may beep once the cycle is finished. You can just turn off the dishwasher to hush it up.
  • The dishwasher may beep if someone opens the door during a wash cycle. Close it immediately to avoid flood on your kitchen floor and stop the beeps.
  • Bosh dishwasher also beeps when there is no detergent in it.
  • The dishwasher may need a reset after a power outage, and it will start beeping to call you. Perform a reset or start the washing cycle again.
  • A beeping dishwasher often indicates a drainage problem. Check at the end of the cycle if there is water in your dishwasher.
  • If you hear beeps right after starting the dishwasher, it may happen due to improper loading of your machine. Some of your dishes may hinder the spray arm movement. Check that you have loaded the dishes correctly.
  • Your dishwasher may beep due to broken parts or components. If everything mentioned above is OK, you need to call a professional to inspect the machine.

Problem No. 12: Bosch Dishwasher Error Codes

Your dishwasher is likely to display the following errors in its life. It is better to have an idea about them so you can solve them promptly without taking professional help.

Error E12: Limescale Buildup

This error indicates a limescale buildup in your dishwasher’s heat pump or other parts. Limescale buildup is caused by the minerals found in your water. If you don’t have a water softener installed in your home, your water is loaded with calcium and magnesium. These elements start to deposit over time and then cause blockages. The white film inside your dishwasher and the dishes is due to hard water.

You can describe your dishwasher using a commercial descaler or a homemade solution of vinegar and baking soda. CLR is also great for removing limescale buildup inside dishwashers.

Install a water softener in your dishwasher to avoid the limescale buildup in your home. You can also use specialized detergents for hard water.

Error E14: Flow Meter Failure

The E14 error indicates that the flow meter on your Bosch dishwasher has failed. The flow meter is responsible for water flowing into the dishwasher.

If you see this error on your machine, it is best to contact Bosch customer service or call your dealer.

Error E15: Water in the Base Trough

This error means that the safety switch on your dishwasher has detected water in the base of the dishwasher. This leads to the activation of a leakage protection system on your dishwasher.

To fix this error, clean the water standing in the lower base of the machine, check the hoses, and make sure they aren’t clogged. You must also ensure that there is no leakage in the pipes. If everything is OK, reset your dishwasher and try again.

The E15 error on a Bosch dishwasher is caused by using too much detergent, a leaky sump basin, a leaking water tank or hose, or a broken Bosch dishwasher fixture.

Error E16 & E17: Water Filling the System

This indicates that water is not able to reach the system. You can solve it by checking the inlet pipe. Ensure that the inlet pipe has no kinks or blockages and is not damaged. These errors can also come if the water pressure is not optimal.

Error E18: Water flows into the Dishwasher

It means that there is an issue with the water flow into the dishwasher. This error is caused when the water level is too low, or the water is not being pumped correctly.

Error E22: Filter is blocked

It means that the filter on your dishwasher is either blocked or clogged and is not responding. A simple removal and cleanup will do the needful.

Error E23: Issue with Drain Pump

The error E23 means that the drainage system of your machine is not working. Though E23 is particularly related to the drain pump, it can come up due to blockages in the drainage system of your dishwasher.

Error E24: Dishwasher not Draining

It means that the dishwasher is not draining properly. A deep inspection of the drainage components like a filter, drain pipe, drain pump, and air gap can diagnose the issue and help fix it.

Error E25: Drain pump blocked, Drain issue, Filter Clogged or Pump Impeller is jammed

You can fix this issue by checking the mentioned component and troubleshooting it.
