I always wanted to make a baby granny square blanket. So, when my best friend had another baby, it was the perfect time to make one. I used Bernat Blanket yarn which is incredibly soft and super bulky. This allowed me to make this granny square baby blanket in under 2 hours!

In addition, someone on Facebook asked me to create a video on how I would crochet a traditional granny square. Well, I decided to combine the two and make a baby blanket using a granny square. At the same time creating a video – which you’ll find below – about how to crochet the classic granny square.

Please keep in mind there’smany granny square patterns out there. Both the traditional style or more modern types. The result here, is one of the traditional, crochet granny squares.

My Granny Square Background

Here’s a small little secret. While I was knitting several years ago (Grandma taught me), I decided to finally learn how to crochet. I think that if you know how to knit, crocheting is easier to learn.

But my point is, I actually learned how to crochet using a traditional granny square! If my memory is correct, it was this basic granny square pattern that I used. Sweet memories 🙂
