I have a love-hate relationship with Hopatcong High School. On the good side of things, I have been able to be a part of several clubs and activities. Various clubs would allow involvement for everyone, however, even there it is lacking. In terms of education, it is often a struggle. I find that Hopatcong High School values the education of lesser achieving students than the ones who are hungry for a good education and it shows. As someone who has always been in honors classes, there has never been a budget for my classes. They fired our French teacher which made it so I could not take two consecutive years of a language. This year they hired a new AP Calculus Teacher, who does not have as much understanding in teaching an upper-level class to prepare us for the examination. There are exceptions to this though, as there are many teachers in the school who genuinely care about their students and their education. I would like to see a change in how the school handles their students.

As a student that had gone there the changes the schools had gone through due to budget cuts were hard, most of the money went to the football team who didnt even win 9 out of 10 games, while all the other sports had to fend for themselves. the newest principle tried to get more fun classes like cosmotology but my sibling who still currently goes to the school said they took away their working hours in that class, and ability to use chemicals away so they arent able to practice out techniques on clients or maniquines. the education overall was okay and i adored majority of my teachers cause they were chill and understood we had problems. it was a very small school though so rumors and problems got around fast. their were a few fights and bathrooms were being locked up and monitered, even if we had a 10 minute e-hallpass limit they still made us wait outside the bathrooms to let us in one at a time, it was overall a weird experince.

I think it was a pretty chill experience, but the one thing I'd like to see improved is the facilities honestly.
