I'm a senior at Hopatcong High School and I believe there are advantages and disadvantages of going to this school. I love the most of the teachers here. However, the teachers and administrators do not tend to solve problems and when they do, it is a slow process. I do see this getting better because of new employees recently. Unfortunately, I feel the school is not budgeted enough to hire the amount of staff we should have. For example, there's not a full time librarian or music teacher. Not only is that unfair to the student but the staff as well. I believe that the school could have some renovations done to make students feel more at home.

My friends who attend other schools tell me of their astronomy, AP statistics, and business classes; I admittedly get jealous. At the beginning of the year, I selected a multitude of courses that would prepare me for my major in marketing, but come August, my schedule included exactly one. Our school, slightly dilapidated and underfunded, did not have the teachers to run the rest. I was indignant for months but I knew nothing would change, a piece of my heart would forever roam the Hopatcong halls. Because here, I met teachers that double as parents and friends that I truly love, and at the crux of it all will be my Marching Band memories. The Hopatcong Band created something unique to every other activity I’ve experienced: a family. It’s members were my siblings and its directors were my guardians and, despite academics and administration, my heart will be ripped from my chest when I graduate.

I went through all the schools in the Hopatcong school district and they were great. The teachers were loving and welcoming everyday. The district provided ESL for me and got me involved in school programs. The school district really focused on promoting success and taking care of ourselves as human beings. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I am grateful for my experience in Hopatcong.
