  • Check to see if the beads are melted together. Continue to iron for another 10 to 20 seconds, if necessary.

The Perler beads are melted correctly when the parchment paper sticks to the beads and needs to be peeled away from them.

What are Perler beads?

Perler beads are small, plastic, cylindrical beads that are also called “fuse beads” or “melty beads”. This is because Perler beads are designed to be melted together!

Place the Perler beads, one by one, onto a plastic pegboard and create a pattern of your choice (like one of these fun Christmas designs). Then cover the design with parchment paper and iron the beads together — the heat from the iron will fuse the beads together into one piece.

FAQs

What is the app that makes Perler bead patterns? ›

Beads Creator is a super easy to use application that allows anyone to easily create bead patterns. The total number of downloads has reached 1,400,000.

How do you combine Perler beads? ›

FUSING SIDE #1:

Place ironing paper over the section of the design you will fuse. In a circular motion, begin to iron the project. Beads need heat for about 10-20 seconds per side to fuse evenly, but it's possible additional heating time may be required.

How do you not warp Perler beads? ›

Place ironing paper over design and iron again. To prevent bead design from warping, place a heavy book on design as it cools. Note: Do not place iron directly against beads or pegboard. Pegboard is not designed for use in any type of oven; it will warp.

Do you need wax or parchment paper for Perler beads? ›

A: Do not use wax paper as the wax melts to the iron and beads. Use parchment paper.

How do I turn a picture into a bead pattern? ›

With Pixel-Beads you can convert photos or pictures into fuse bead patterns. Just select your favorite picture, determine the number of beads as well as the number of colors and let Pixel-Beads pixelate your picture. You can choose different manufacturers like Hama, Artkal, Nabbi or Perler.

What is the difference between perler beads and pony beads? ›

put oil in the bowl 2. stick the perler beads 3. put it in the microwave for 10-12 min 4.

Why do tape Perler beads poke holes? ›

The tape can trap hot air when melting and cause bead 'blowouts'. Blowouts are when a hot air has nowhere to escape causing the hole in the center to expand too much. Poke a tiny hole in the center to allow air to escape - do this for every bead.

Can I use parchment paper to iron Perler beads? ›

You need to use parchment paper. I learned this lesson the hard way. Wax paper will stick to the perler beads and does not come off easily! If you've already done this and need to know how to remove the wax paper, the easiest way I have found is with water.

How do you seal Perler beads without an iron? ›

Put it in a preheated oven at 200°C for a few moments. The ironing beads will melt and weld together. Now all you have to do is unmold. Make sure your container is oven safe and always let it cool before moving your creation.

Are there different sizes of Perler beads? ›

Perler beads come in two sizes called classic (5 mm) and biggie (10 mm). Pyssla beads (by IKEA) only come in one size (5 mm).

Can you reuse ironing paper for Perler beads? ›

3) Remove the paper and bead design from the pegboard. Flip the design over to expose the non-fused side and repeat step two. Let cool completely. Your pegboard and ironing paper are reusable.

How much is bead tool software? ›

The free version doesn't allow you to save or print beading patterns, so if you want to do this or to sell your patterns via Etsy for example, you'll need to buy the full BeadTool 4 version for $49.95. The added benefit of buying the full license is that you'll be able to get free updates for the software.

Are Hama beads and perler beads the same? ›

Hama Beads: Dark blue, light blue, yellow, white, and red. Hama beads have a lower melting point than perler beads, and you can see from this picture that they look quite a bit different when melted.

How do you make Perler bead beads? ›

Take a preheated iron and melt the beads on high heat for 15 – 20 seconds. Wait for beads to cool. Flip the project over, cover with ironing paper and melt again on the other side. Allow the project to cool, remove the paper, and enjoy your Perler Bead project.
